TEDX Talk: Profits For Progress – Sustainable Social Contribution
Updated: Mar 2
Recently I was honored by the invitation to speak at TEDX here in Nova Scotia. If you have not heard of TED TALKS it is well worth a visit.
Innovators and leaders world wide convene to hear experts in their field give an 18 minute presentation on “ideas worth spreading”. The following is the magic which transpires as described by TED itself:
“We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world. So we’re building here a clearinghouse that offers free knowledge and inspiration from the world’s most inspired thinkers, and also a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other.”

Such an integration not only provides the means for powerful social contribution, but it also provides increased publicity and good will for the business itself, garnering increased revenue growth which in turn impacts social contribution (which is directly tied to business growth).
Passionate about the model, the closing of my presentation was a challenge to small businesses worldwide to adopt such an approach, and I left the audience with a formula in which they could apply to their business.

The outcome your business can expect? Increased social contributions, increased profits, and improved employee satisfaction which comes when working for a worthy cause.
To learn more about this concept, watch the presentation above and if this is your first exposure to TED, I encourage you to explore the various TED presentations as there are many truly inspiration speakers giving the “talk of their life”.
